Rady Children’s officially opened in 1954, and since then, the hospital has treated nearly two million sick and injured children. Because of its growth and dedication to research, Rady Children’s outgrew its current data storage capacity and looked to expand their technology capabilities.
Balfour Resource Group was selected to plan and coordinate the relocation of the primary (Nelson) Data Center as well as 12 cabinets of servers and storage devices that were housed at an off-site co-location to the newly constructed Ambulatory Care Pavilion Data Center.
Utilizing a custom developed FileMaker Pro database and shared folders via Dropbox.com to deliver timely data and reports to project members from coast to coast, team members were able to use mobile devices including iPads and iPhones to view critical information real-time. Five major moves were planned, coordinated and executed in conjunction with third party participants including EMC, HP, Transitional Data Services and Cor-O-Van.
