Mayo Clinic Hospital Jacksonville

Mayo Clinic is one of the top research and teaching institutions in the Nation. As part of the facilities’ construction master plan, the new six-story replacement facility offers a flexible design to support vertical expansion up to 16 levels.

Balfour Resource Group assisted with the equipment layout, procurement and implementation of 214 beds, an OR department, inpatient and outpatient departments, multiple labs, and a full‐service emergency department.

The main surgical suite contains 16 operating rooms designed around a central sterile core which eliminates cross contamination of new and used supplies. Utilizing the latest technology, surgeons are developing and performing innovative procedures that are less invasive and more effective. For example, an intraoperative MRI is used for real-time imaging, and the nuclear image scanner shows images of an area eliminating the need for exploratory surgery at times.

Patient rooms in the new facility are spacious and provide natural light. The design also includes patient headwalls and bed dockers for flexible access to all needed equipment and services. In order to accommodate families of patients, rooms include ergonomic furniture and video on demand services for education as well as entertainment.
